It's Friday Cocktail Time! Momma Mojito's MIL's Whiskey Slush Edition!

Hey mommas! Happy Friday to ya! How are you girls holding up with this heat wave?! It's sweltering hot here with heat indexes hovering in the 115 degree range.  Now I'm all for some hot weather but geez...that is HOT.  But you know what goes great with hot weather?! ICE COLD COCKTAILS.

My sweet MIL makes the most wonderful ice cold drink called Whiskey Slush.  It's super cold and oh so delicious.  She's made it for years, but for some reason I hadn't had the pleasure of drinking it yet until last weekend at my niece's birthday party.  We were outside hanging out by the pool all day, and oh girl let met tell ya....whiskey slush is the PERFECT summer cocktail to have in your Yeti while you float.  I didn't take a picture of this glorious drink because I'm a goober and apparently was more concerned with drinking it than taking its picture! Lol! So you girls are just going to have to use your imagination, but trust me...you need to make this one stat! It's definitely a must for getting through this heat wave.  So here it is girls...Momma Mojito's MIL's Whiskey Slush! Enjoy and stay cool out there mommas!

It's Friday Cocktail Time! Gin Basil Fizz Edition!

Hey mommas! Happy Friday to you all! Hope you all had a wonderful week! I can't believe it's already halfway through July which means only a few weeks left of summer! How did it go by so fast?

It's been a busy but great summer for us here at the Mojito House.  Last weekend, I got to take my daughter to Mom & Daughter Girl Scout Camp and we had the greatest time! It was super hot, but so much fun!  I love getting some special time with her.  I'm sure there's going to come a day when she's not so interested in hanging out with her momma, so I'm going to enjoy it while I can.

This summer, I've been trying to do some more gardening than I did last year.  So far, it hasn't gone the greatest...haha.  I grew some huge, gorgeous and healthy tomato plants only to have them ravaged by Tomato Hockworms...which I had never heard of until this summer.  I also grew some basil, but it grew fast and furious and now it's on its way out unfortunately.  However before it goes, I'm trying to get as much use out of it as I can because I absolutely love basil.  It's so delicious in so many dishes, but it's also fabulous in cocktails!  So I snipped a handful and smashed in a glass with some lemon, gin, and club soda and it made the most delicious boozy lemonade-type drink ever.  Go ahead and give it a whirl.  You're going to love it! Cheers mommas and see you next week!

It's Friday Cocktail Time! Cherry Lime Pool Punch Edition!

Hey mommas! Happy Friday to ya! Are you girls worn out from the holiday this week?  It's kind of thrown my schedule off a bit, but that's okay! We had a super fun 4th hanging out in the pool and  having a shrimp boil and oh girl, I love me a shrimp boil! It's super fun to make AND to eat.  I'll have to post my shrimp boil recipe at some point.  Would you girls be interested in that? Let me know if so down below in the comments!

On another note, I love going to the pool.  Unfortunately, I haven't had that many opportunities this summer to go to the pool.  But when I do, I love taking a delicious and easy cocktail for sipping.  I also think it's a necessity to take it in a big Yeti cup because it stays cold and there's a lid because let's be honest....kids at the pool equals a whole lotta splashing! This picture above looks calm and relaxing, but it was the half second I spent at the pool uninterrupted and not completely soaked from kids saying "Hey momma watch this cannon ball!!!" Haha! :)

So here's my recipe for one of my go-to pool drinks that's perfect for serving up in a large stainless steel cup of your choice! Cheers mommas and here's to having at least a few minutes of peace the next time you're at the pool! ;)

MOMMA MOJITO'S CHERRY LIME POOL PUNCH

Ingredients:

  • 3.5 oz Rum or Vodka (your choice)
  • Sprite (to taste)
  • 7-10 Maraschino Cherries
  • 2 Large Splashes of the Juice from the Cherry Jar
  • 1 Lime -- half of it cup in wedges and the other half juiced
  • Splash of Grenadine

Directions:

In a large stainless steel cup, throw in the cherries and lime wedges.  Pour the cherry juice over the top.  Muddle with a muddler or a spoon until cherries and limes get smashed lightly.  Next, add ice to your preference.  Next, pour in the rum or vodka (whichever you prefer--both are great in this recipe!).  Add the Grenadine and Lime Juice.  Finally, pour in the Sprite to the top.  Stir it all together and pop the lid on! Now head to the pool or wherever you're off to and enjoy! Cheers mommas!

It's Friday Cocktail Time! July 4th Juice!

Hey mommas! Happy weekend before July 4th to ya! I know it's a Saturday and Fridays are usually the days I post new cocktail recipes! We are undergoing MAJOR changes here at Momma Mojito, so I hope you mommas will forgive me for being off my routine a little bit!

Since Momma Mojito became a registered trademark, I've got big plans ahead for this company that will undoubtedly be for the better.  However, it's going to take some adjustments around here.  So if you browse around on the website, you'll see that the majority (not all!) of our inventory is sold out.  While I understand that can be a bit frustrating, please bear with us through this time as we adapt and add new fresh things to the site soon.  Also if I'm a little quieter on social media, don't fret.  I'm still around and busier than ever.  We'll get back on a normal routine soon enough and be better than ever.

In the meantime, let's talk cocktails...more specifically cocktails for July 4th.  Now you could try my delicious Red, White, & Blue Mojito or you could try my new patriotic cocktail!  It's a low-calorie and yummy option for the 4th that's not too sweet so feel free to enjoy one in your swimsuit! ;) Here it is mommas! Cheers and happy 4th of July!!
