Hey Mommas!! Thanks for joining me for a super fun and special edition of Friday Cocktail Time!! So today, I turned 30 years old. Whaaaattt?!? 30!!! That's right!! No longer in my twenties. No longer considered young. I always thought I'd be a little sad to say goodbye to my twenties, but you know what? I'm actually pretty excited!! 30 is not looking so bad after all. In many ways, I was still figuring out myself in my twenties. So many things happened in my twenties: I became a wife, a college graduate, and a momma to two little sweethearts. But here in these last few months of my twenties, some pretty exciting things happened as well...I opened my business after years of contemplating AND we found out that we are packing up and moving up to Oklahoma City. So my thirties aren't looking so bad either. I'm super excited about my business, and I have big plans to continue growing it over the next couple of years. Of course I'm very excited about this new adventure for my family in Oklahoma City as well. But just as important as anything else, I'm really enjoying feeling completely confident and secure as a 30 year-old woman. And I know that I'm lucky and blessed to be able to say that, but it's true. It hasn't come easy. There's been so many years of trials and tribulations along the way. I wouldn't change a bit of it though because it's all what made me who I am today. Of course every woman goes through times of self-doubt, but I'm more sure of myself and my relationships with the people I love more than ever. And that's a great feeling. I'm so proud of what my family and I have accomplished thus far, and I'm really hopeful that we'll continue giving it 110% and appreciate and love each other through it all.
Consequently, I know there are so many things I have yet to learn and experience in my 30's but I truly cannot wait. It's bound to be a fun journey. I hope that I can remember in my 30's to slow down and enjoy the little things. That's something that I constantly need to remind myself. I hope that I take the time to enjoy my kids' childhoods before I turn around at the end of my 30's and my daughter will be heading off to college. That's a sad and scary thought, so I'm not going to go there today. Time just flies by way too fast when you get to thinking about it.
For those women who are still in their 20's, if I have any words of wisdom-- it would be to love yourself. Don't take that lightly. Be proud of who you are through and through. Take time to figure out how you truly feel about everything and stay true to what you believe. LOVE YOURSELF. There is not much that can stand in the way of a woman who knows exactly who she is and exactly what she wants. Take care of yourself. Take care of your spouse or significant other. Take care of your kids. But never ever forget to take care of yourself. Do things that make you happy. Work so hard that you can't see straight...then work some more. Then when it's all finished--finally sit back, make yourself a cocktail, and enjoy all of that hard work. You deserve it Momma. Don't let anybody else tell you otherwise.
Now.... it's time to get this party started!! Where's my party hat?? Who's up for cocktails?? Turn on some Bruno Mars because it's time to part-ay!!!! "Cause Uptown Funk you up, uptown funk you up, say whaaaat?!" This momma over here is more than ready to do some celebrating!! I'm dancin' already!! So here's the recipe to my very festive 30th birthday cocktail! I had a blast making this for my family this weekend as we celebrated!! Make it for your next birthday or for a friend's!! Everyone is bound to love it!! See you next time for another edition of Friday Cocktail Time!!
