It's Friday Cocktail Time!! Watermelon Margarita Edition!!

Hey Mommas!! Happy Friday to ya!!  Hope you all have had a fabulous week and hopefully have some fun plans for the weekend!!

We have officially wrapped up our Spring/Summer 2017 Shows and we had a truly wonderful time meeting so many of you!! The shows are so much work for me as a momma trying to prep for while I take care of my little ones.  Then of course, I have to rely on lots of help to watch my kids while I set up and work the shows.  I really don't think any of this would be possible without Mr. Mojito.  He is definitely the muscle behind all of the work that goes into these shows.  Despite all of the hard work, you mommas really show us the love at these trade-shows and festivals and really make it all worth it for me! We love to have you mommas shopping with us!!  With that said, we have officially wrapped up with the shows until the fall, and I'm pretty excited about spending the rest of the summer concentrating on my kiddos.  That doesn't mean there still won't be lots of Momma Mojito fun coming your way!! In fact, we just released TWO brand new cactus shirts today that are seriously the cutest!! You can find them under the Tops tab in Apparel.  You definitely want to check these out because they are going to go fast!

Even though summer is already halfway over and school will be starting in a month, I really feel like summer is just getting started for me.  I have so many fun things planned to do with my kids which includes lots of pool time!!  Speaking of, we are about to head to the pool as soon as I get done with this post, so I made a Watermelon Margarita to take with me in my Yeti cup that I'm pretty excited about!! ;)  It seriously is sooo good and such a summery drink!!  The recipe makes a whole pitcher worth so you can make for a crowd.....or put the pitcher in the fridge so your next drink is ready to pour when you are!!  Ah-mazing.  So make this delicious recipe this weekend and enjoy your last half of summer mommas!! I know I sure will!!  See you next week!! Cheers mommas!! :)

xx, Momma Mojito

MOMMA MOJITO'S WATERMELON MARGARITA

(makes appoximately 4 large servings or 8 small servings)

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of fresh watermelon
  • 8 oz. Tequila of your choice (I used Tres Generaciones Reposado)
  • 4 oz. Orange Juice
  • 2 oz. Simple Syrup
  • Juice of 2 Limes
  • Salt or Sugar to coat rims of glasses
  • Garnishes such as watermelon slices, lime slices, umbrellas, etc. Have fun with it!

Directions:

In the glasses of your choice, moisten the rim of the glasses with lime juice then dip in kosher salt or sugar---your choice! I used salt this time but it would be equally delicious with sugar.  Now, set the glasses aside.  In a large blender, fill about halfway up with ice.  Pour in tequila, orange juice, simple syrup, and lime juice.  Now, add the fresh watermelon.  Blend thoroughly.  Pour in glasses, garnish, and serve immediately. Enjoy mommas!

(Note that separation in the drink is normal with watermelon and doesn't affect the taste at all! Just re-stir as needed!)

It's Friday Cocktail Time! Recap Series: Piña Colada Edition!

Note:  This is our last edition of our "Friday Cocktail Time Recap Series" while we've been busy addressing other Momma Mojito matters.  This is a previously posted Friday Cocktail Time from the end of last summer when I was a little sad to see summer go.  It's my Piña Colada!! It's the perfect summer cocktail--fruity, tropical, and oh so refreshing.  Plus, it's a breeze to whip up a pitcher of these yummy drinks!!  Cheers mommas and I'll see you next week with a brand new Friday Cocktail Time!! ;) xx, Momma Mojito

Hey Mommas! So the first day of fall was yesterday.  Seems like everybody is thrilled.  Am I the only one around here a little sad to see summer go? :( I know, I know.  Sounds crazy right?  I do enjoy that first crisp breeze of fall, the beautiful vibrant foliage, the excitement of the holidays just right around the corner.  I agree that those things are exciting.  But what happens AFTER those holidays have come and gone? The dead of winter is what.  I dread that time of year when you're over the cold and all you want is to go outside to check your mail without having to put on 8 layers and getting frostbite! Am I right?  Everything outside is brown and dead and bare.  It's such a depressing time of year.  On the other hand, I love summer.  Everything about it.  I live in the south too so that's saying something.  100 degree days are the regular.  But I love being able to go step outside on my patio with my drink in hand wearing nothing but a tank top and cutoffs and be perfectly comfortable and relaxed.  The easy, laid-back nature of summer just agrees with me.  Every year at this time I get a little sad about the end of summer and every year I get over it... eventually.  So this is my ode to summer for you mommas.  The perfect summery drink to send off summer is the classic piña colada.  This is one of my most popular drinks.  I make it for friends and family and it is requested constantly.  It's that good.

A little back story about my adventures with this delicious drink:  Several years ago, my husband and I were on a kid-free vacation in Key West where we honeymooned 5 years before that.  We love Key West.  Such a cool, fun vibe there.  Well on one rather drunken afternoon, we stumbled across The Rum Bar at the Speakeasy Inn.  What a great find that was.  On bartender duty was a pretty locally famous bartender -- "Bahama Bob."  He's actually an extremely knowledgeable and fabulous bartender and mixologist!  He serves on the RumXP board and has a couple cocktail books as well.  I'm pretty sure I talked his ear off for several hours asking him a million questions on all the different drinks he was making.  What can I say? I was fascinated.  So it's not a surprise that his Piña Colada is absolutely wonderful, simple, and different.  Below is my slightly adapted version.  Hope you girls love it just like I do.  Until next year Summer...

xx Momma Mojito

(P.S. Check back with me next Friday where hopefully I'm over my end-of-summer blues and I host another Friday Cocktail Time!)

Hey mommas!! Happy 3-Day weekend to you all!!! Who's super excited for a long weekend?! I know I sure am!!  As I am heading out of town for a super fun bachelorette weekend for a life-long friend of mine, I am extra excited!!

Memorial Day is such a great weekend, not only because school is out for summer.  But it's also a great time to get together with friends and family and have some fun together, maybe swim, or do some grilling.  Memorial Day is always a fun weekend!  It feels like it's the start of summer and that's pretty exciting! It's really important to remember those that have sacrificed their lives for our ability to have weekends like these.  It really is true that we live in the land of the free because of the brave.  It's something I feel passionate about and that's why I came up with my "Momma Loves Her Troop" tee.  It's not only a great way to show everybody how you love your own family, but it also supports the families of our troops as well.  Every single cent that I make off of these tees, I give straight to the Wounded Warriors Family Support which benefits families of our troops who have either been killed or injured while fighting for our country.  After all, it's not just the troops that our sacrificing for our country, but their families are sacrificing as well.  I'm proud to announce that this weekend, not only am I giving all of the proceeds of the sales of these tees to this wonderful cause but I am also giving $10 extra for every single "Momma Loves Her Troop" tee right out of my own pocket.  So go ahead mommas, buy away.  I would be over the moon if these tees sold like hotcakes and I had to donate hundreds or thousands of dollars to this worthy cause!! Speaking of, if you'd like to just donate straight to the Wounded Warriors Family Support, then visit their website : https://www.wwfs.org/ .

So in honor of those who have served our country, thank you beyond measure.  Mommas, here is a festive Blueberry & Strawberry Mojito just for this occasion in beautiful red, white, & blue!! Cheers mommas and happy Memorial Day weekend!! :)

It's Friday Cocktail Time!! Blackberry Mojito Edition!!

Hey mommas!! Happy Friday to ya!! Hope you all are enjoying your summer so far!! It's starting to really heat up outside, and I couldn't be more excited!! I love the heat.  It really doesn't faze me. I'll take the sweltering heat any day over the freezing temperatures.

It's been a busy summer so far for us.  My kiddos are both playing summer ball, and between the games and practices I feel like I rarely have a free night.  I love watching them play though. There's something so quintessentially summer about sitting outside on a summer night watching a baseball game right?!

I also had our big summer show last weekend at Indie Trunk Show here in OKC.  It was a great success and I so enjoyed getting to meet so many of you!! If you couldn't make it out, don't worry because we will also be out at The Red, Bright, & Blue Festival at the Wheeler Ferris Wheel in OKC on the 4th of July!!! I am so excited about this show!! It's all outside right there next to the ferris wheel which will be all lit up red, white, and blue!! PLUS!! At 9:30, the downtown fireworks are set to go off so we'll be in the perfect viewing spot right there in the Wheeler District.  It's our final show of the summer, so you definitely don't want to miss the fun!! We'll be popped up for shopping from 2-9 that day, so swing by and say hi!!

I sure hope all you mommas are enjoying your summer.  Hopefully you're getting to do some fun things with your kiddos while they're home from school.  On these hot summer days, I have the perfect summertime cocktail to cool ya down.  It's my Blackberry Mojito!! It's pretty close to my original mojito with the addition of some delicious in-season blackberries!!  Give it a try mommas and let me know how ya like it!! Cheers and see ya next week!! ;)

It's Friday Cocktail Time! Recap Series: Moscow Mule Edition!

For my new followers, I am reposting my delicious Moscow Mule Recipe from September '16!! Hope you love it just as much as I do!! It's the perfect summertime drink!! ;)

Hey Mommas!! What a good week it's been around here at the Momma Mojito HQ! We've been prepping for our big product release on October 1st! It's going to be here before you know it! We're so excited to show you all of these incredible items!  We have some really adorable clothes, the perfect accessories to match, and of course some items that are just right for cocktail hour! Seriously, this drinkware is just too cute for words.  As if you needed an excuse to get your cocktail hour going, am I right? ;)

Also on the momma front, I am finally getting on top of all my chores! We had such a crazy busy summer with weddings, travelling, tball and softball...basically you name it.  It was too busy of a summer.  I felt like I had no time to catch up on things around the house before school started back up again.  So for this first month that the kids have been back to school, I have been hard at work catching up.  And FINALLY I feel like I'm coming around.  My house is clean, laundry done and put up. Crazy right? I better enjoy it while it lasts because with 2 rowdy children and 1 overgrown one (aka my husband), it won't take long before it's all destroyed again.  Maybe I'll just make myself a cocktail and lay out in the sun until it's time to go pick up the kids from school. Hmm that sounds fabulous.  The perfect drink for this perfect Friday afternoon -- why a moscow mule of course.  Have you ever had one of these delicious cocktails? For some reason, lots of people I know haven't tried them.  So then I immediately insist they must try one, and everybody always loves it.  Doesn't matter if you don't like vodka or ginger beer.  It's such a simple recipe but so magically tasty when it all comes together.  A fabulous cocktail that comes together in a flash is a momma necessity for sure.  So here it is girls--pour yourself one this weekend and enjoy all the hard work you've accomplished! Check back with us next week for another Friday Cocktail Time! :)

xx Momma Mojito

Momma Mojito's Moscow Mule (how's that for some alliteration?)

Ingredients/Supplies:

  • 2 oz. Tito's vodka
  • 6 oz. Alcoholic Ginger Beer
  • Juice of half a lime
  • Ice
  • Sprig of Rosemary & Lime Wheel for garnish
  • Copper Mug

Directions:

In your copper mug, juice your half of a lime. Go ahead and throw the lime down in the bottom of the mug when you're done juicing it because well why not.  Now fill up the mug 3/4 of the way up with ice -- crushed, cubed, whatever you prefer.  I like to use crushed.  Now pour in your Tito's vodka.  Lots of people have their own personal preference for brand of vodka.  I love Tito's.  I am a Texas girl after all.  If you haven't tried Tito's, you should.  You're missing out.   Now, pour in your ginger beer.  You can use non-alcoholic ginger beer if you prefer but I mean come on.  You ARE making yourself a drink.  Make it worth your time and use the alcoholic ginger beer.  Okay with that said, give it a slight stir.  Garnish it with a rosemary sprig and a lime wheel, and you are done.  Drink up Momma!! You deserve it!!
