It's Friday Cocktail Time!! Red, White, & Blue Mojito Edition!!

Hey mommas!! Happy 3-Day weekend to you all!!! Who's super excited for a long weekend?! I know I sure am!!  As I am heading out of town for a super fun bachelorette weekend for a life-long friend of mine, I am extra excited!!

Memorial Day is such a great weekend, not only because school is out for summer.  But it's also a great time to get together with friends and family and have some fun together, maybe swim, or do some grilling.  Memorial Day is always a fun weekend!  It feels like it's the start of summer and that's pretty exciting! It's really important to remember those that have sacrificed their lives for our ability to have weekends like these.  It really is true that we live in the land of the free because of the brave.  It's something I feel passionate about and that's why I came up with my "Momma Loves Her Troop" tee.  It's not only a great way to show everybody how you love your own family, but it also supports the families of our troops as well.  Every single cent that I make off of these tees, I give straight to the Wounded Warriors Family Support which benefits families of our troops who have either been killed or injured while fighting for our country.  After all, it's not just the troops that our sacrificing for our country, but their families are sacrificing as well.  I'm proud to announce that this weekend, not only am I giving all of the proceeds of the sales of these tees to this wonderful cause but I am also giving $10 extra for every single "Momma Loves Her Troop" tee right out of my own pocket.  So go ahead mommas, buy away.  I would be over the moon if these tees sold like hotcakes and I had to donate hundreds or thousands of dollars to this worthy cause!! Speaking of, if you'd like to just donate straight to the Wounded Warriors Family Support, then visit their website : https://www.wwfs.org/ .

So in honor of those who have served our country, thank you beyond measure.  Mommas, here is a festive Blueberry & Strawberry Mojito just for this occasion in beautiful red, white, & blue!! Cheers mommas and happy Memorial Day weekend!! :)

It's Friday Cocktail Time!! Spiked Cherry Limeade Edition!!

Hey there mommas!! Happy Friday to ya!! Hope you mommas have had a fabulous week!  Every week I bribe my kids into doing their chores, behaving at school, not driving me crazy, you know those type of things.  So each week if they have done everything right (which is about 90% of the time surprisingly), then they get what we call a "Friday Treat."  These Friday Treats are serious business to my kids.  They loooooove Fridays for these treats alone.  Plus, it makes parenting so much easier for me because all I have to do is threaten, "If you don't make your bed then there's no Friday Treat for you."   Then it's like magic!! There's no whining or complaining--they just simply get it done without me having to yell.  I love not having to yell!!  Yay for not having to yell!!! I'm sure this goes against every parenting book out there to bribe your kids with sugar but I don't care people! It works and I'm sticking to it!!

So for these Friday Treats, we often end up at Sonic.  My kids love Sonic.  It's a M&M Sonic Blast for Little Mr. Mojito every single time and usually a sugary slush or frozen lemonade of some sort for Little Momma Mojito (she likes to mix it up every week!).  As for this momma, I get a Friday Treat too because well parenting is hard and surely I deserve a treat for my hard work right?! HA!! We'll go with that!! ;) So, sometimes I get a Cherry Dr. Pepper because Dr. Pepper is my ultimate soda weakness and I only allow myself one every so often.  One of my other favorite Sonic drinks is a Cherry Limeade.  Everybody loves Sonic Cherry Limeades right??!! Well guess what??!! It is SUPER crazy easy to make at home and what's even better is that it is DELICIOUS with some adult additives...aka alcohol!  You can make this drink with either vodka or white rum, either one is yummy but I normally go with vodka for this drink.  It's a fabulous easy peasy cocktail that is perfect for summertime.  Plus, it fits perfectly in our 10oz. tumblers like the "Party On!" one pictured above!!  So enjoy it and cheers mommas!!

  • 5-6 Maraschino Cherries (without stems) plus their juice
  • 2 thick slices of Lime
  • Splash of Grenadine
  • Sprite to taste

Directions:

In a tall glass or one of our 10oz. tumblers, place the cherries in the bottom and pour in a bit of the juice from the jar.  Then, place the slices of lime on top of them.  Now muddle enough to release the lime flavor.  Now, add crushed ice almost to the top of the glass.  Add the vodka, grenadine, and then fill to the top with Sprite.  Give it a slight stir and garnish if you want or put your lid on it and take your yummy cocktail outside! Cheers mommas!!

It's Friday Cocktail Time!! Strawberry Thyme Martini Edition!!

Hey mommas!! Happy Friday to ya!!! Can you believe it's already halfway through May?? My kids get out of school in a week and a half! I haven't decided if I'm excited or a little disappointed.  It changes on any given day.  On the one hand, I love having my kids home in the summer and doing fun stuff with them.  I'm super excited we have a great neighborhood pool that's just a short walk from our new house that we can enjoy this summer! Plus, I always love taking them to parks and museums and the random afternoon matinee of the newest children's movie.  All fun stuff.  These are all things I love to do with my monkeys in the summer.  On the other hand, I like silence and being able to get chores done with ease...or not hearing arguing when I'm trying to listen to a new favorite song...or being able to go to the bathroom without someone knocking on the door asking if they can have ANOTHER container of Pringles!!! UGH!! And don't even get me started on trying to work out with kids in the house---seriously I don't want an audience when I'm attempting to do burpees OKAY?! Oh, the life of a mom:  so much fun...yet so much work and so little personal time.... okay let's be honest--ZERO personal time.

Anywho---- speaking of moms, it's Mother's Day on Sunday!! Yay!! The one day you can guilt-trip your husband into doing the dishes and he actually does it without complaining!! I'll take it!! ;)  Because I love all you mommas, I decided to have my BIGGEST sale to date by offering 25% off your entire order now through Sunday at midnight just to show all you mommas some love!  So go ahead, treat yourself momma because you totally deserve it!! (pssss---this is a great time to snag one of our gorgeous Agate Wraps that are so hot right now for one heck of a deal!!!!)

Another thing going on this time of year is it's strawberry season.  Ahh, don't you just love strawberry season?!   Strawberries are my all-time favorite fruit (blackberries being a close second!) and I love to put strawberries on EVERYTHING!  Seriously....oatmeal, toast, pancakes, yogurt, salad, and of course--COCKTAILS!! Yes strawberries and cocktails just go together like PB&J.  So continuing on my strawberry obsession which I started up on the previous post with my Sour Strawberry Cocktail, I now give you a Strawberry Thyme Martini that is so interesting and different, but still delicious and sweet.  The thyme gives it a unique herby, woodsy taste while the strawberries bring the sweet and fruitiness.  This martini is equal parts easy and elegant so it's perfect to serve to your mother-in-law coming to stay with you this weekend! ;) Cheers mommas and have a very, very happy momma's day!!!! :) <3

xx and much love to all you fellow mommas,

Momma Mojito

It's Friday Cocktail Time!! The Sour Strawberry Edition!!

Hey Mommas!!  Happy last Friday of April to ya!! Can you believe it's almost May??? Crazy right?? Just 3 more weeks left of school for us and I really can't believe it.  It's supposed to be in the 50s here all weekend, but school's almost out!?!? Whaaat????  I guess that's Oklahoma weather for ya!!

Nevermind the weird weather, it's the growing season and things are in full bloom around here. All of the lush green surroundings just gets me giddy.  I love this time of year.  Our new house in OKC has a gorgeous greenbelt behind it, and I have to admit it's quite serene looking out the back windows at solid trees.  Also, we're in the midst of mint season and what's not to love about that?!? I have mint growing all over the place....sweet mint, spearmint, and even chocolate mint. Yes you heard me right--CHOCOLATE MINT.  Who would have thought that such a plant existed? It really does smell like chocolate mint.  The only downfall is it makes me want Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies. Since I have a constant supply of those with a Girl Scout in the house (Little Momma Mojito), then that's a bad thing.  Ha!

Anyway, I've been whipping up all sorts of cocktails lately with all of this glorious mint growing, and I have a really yummy one to share with you all!! And guess what?! It actually doesn't involve rum on this one!! I set my love of rum aside for this recipe, and switched it up with some whiskey. It's a good switch for this cocktail.  The whiskey adds a depth to this drink that's really interesting and flavorful.  If you don't have mint growing in abundance at your house like I do, no worries. You can find it in packages in your grocers' produce area.  It's usually located near the prepackaged lettuce mixes.

This is a really delicious, bright cocktail to serve as the weather warms up.  It's best served with friends and outside on your porch....or alone..while the kids are napping and you're on your back porch in a rocking chair with a baby monitor in your hand.  Haha! Your choice!  Whichever works best for ya momma!! ;)  Hope you all love it just as much as I do.  Cheers mommas and have a great weekend!!! :)

It's Friday Cocktail Time!! Bloody Mary Edition!!

Blue hydrangeas are my fave!! :) Aren't they pretty??

Hey mommas!! Happy Friday!! Hope you mommas have had a wonderful week and I'm sure you all are ready for the weekend!! Heck yeah!!

I had such a blast meeting so many of you mommas last weekend at Wanderlust!! It was our biggest day of sales to date, and I can't thank you mommas enough for showing us so much love!! We LOVED hearing how much all of you loved our products including our prices!! We always want to make you mommas happy, and we'll continue to keep growing and making sure we're doing just that!!  So from the bottom of my heart, I want to give a big thank you to all of you for being loyal Momma Mojito fans!! :)

On another note, it has been the weirdest Friday around here in OKC.  It started out with massive amounts of rain through the night that continued into the morning today resulting in some serious flash flooding. The surrounding streets in my area were shut down in several places making for a very interesting drive to school this morning.  It's been so bad that many cars were stalled out in the intersection next to my house, so we've had news helicopters flying over the area all day taking video footage. Crazy right?!?  It's been hard for me to get much work done with all the chaos going on, but luckily I already had whipped up some Bloody Marys earlier this week, so I'm ready to share the yumminess with you girls!!  So here it is mommas!! Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!! I'm off to go make one of these for myself stat!! Cheers!! ;)

  • 3-4 dashes of Worcestershire Sauce
  • 3-4 dashes of Tabasco Sauce
  • 1/4 tsp. of Prepared Horseradish Sauce
  • Salt & Pepper to Taste
  • 1 tbsp each of Kosher Salt and Celery Salt for Rim - Mixed
  • Garnishes such as Olives, Pickles, Celery Stalk, etc.

Directions:

In a highball glass, run a halved lemon over the rim of the glass.  Set the lemon aside.  Dip the rim of the glass in the kosher and celery salt mixture to coat the rim.  Shake off any excess.  Fill the glass all the way up with ice and set aside.  Next, fill up a cocktail shaker with ice.  Add vodka, V8 or tomato juice, the juice of that halved lemon, pickle juice, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce, horseradish sauce, and salt and pepper to taste.  You can also throw in a 1/4 tsp of red pepper flakes if you're wanting even more heat.  Cover the cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for 30 seconds approximately.  Strain into the highball glass.  Garnish as desired and add a straw for drinking.  Feel free to enjoy this cocktail ANY time of day--it's just as good at other times of the day besides brunch....but hey brunch works too!! Cheers mommas!! ;)
