Hey Mommas!! Happy Friday!! Hope you all had a wonderful week!!
My oldest child, my daughter, is turning 8 on Sunday so I've been busy preppin' for her birthday. Apparently, 8 is a big milestone birthday and I didn't see it coming. She has changed overnight from a little princess into a big grown-up girl with her own thoughts and opinions and more in tune with reality than I would have realized she would be at this age. She requested as her birthday present not a single toy but a room makeover. Yep. And to make it even more hard to swallow...she wanted to get rid of all of her princess decor and switch it out to a colorful explorer/adventurer theme. I agreed...reluctantly. I have spent all week shopping for her room makeover from everything to bedding to new decorations. Quite to my surprise, it has been very emotional for me. I know that sounds completely stupid, but it's true. I guess it's just this realization that she's no longer little anymore and she's growing up. I passed by all of the princess decorations in the stores and headed to more of the tween areas with tears in my eyes. I know for a fact that I got more than one "look" in Hobby Lobby, no doubt from people wondering what in the world can someone be crying about in Hobby Lobby. UGH. Motherhood problems right?? I'm sure you mommas get me. Someone tell me that it's really not as bad as it seems and these next 10 years with her in my house will slow down and last forever right?!?
Okay no more crying....I'm going to make it. Promise. On a totally different note, I have realllllly been digging spicy cocktails lately. No really. It's becoming an obsession. Every yummy restaurant I've been a patron at lately, I've been perusing their cocktail menu for their spicier options. So this weekend, we're in the middle of an ice storm so there's no going out for me. So what else to do but whip one up myself, right?? This cocktail features Tres Generaciones Reposado Tequila and trust me on this one...you need it in your life. It is a fabulous aged tequila that is smooth and delicious. Bonus points for its beautiful copper hammered bottle. If you don't have this tequila in your liquor cabinet, you can try this recipe with a different tequila BUT I don't recommend it. This is a strong drink and it's significantly better with this high-quality tequila. So here it is...my Spicy Cucumber Martini. Enjoy Mommas!!

MOMMA MOJITO'S SPICY CUCUMBER MARTINI
Ingredients/Supplies:
- 2 oz. Tres Generaciones Reposado Tequila
- Juice of one small lime
- 1/4 oz. Agave Nectar
- 8 Small Cucumber Wedges (1/2 inch in length approximately)
- 3-5 Dashes of Cholula (more if you like it super spicy... I like it spicy so I did 6!)
- Garnishes (I used a thin slice of lime, cucumber, and 2 strips of green bell pepper--one on each end of the lime and cucumber--held all together with a toothpick!)
- Chili Lime Rim (Kosher Salt, Sugar, Chili Powder, Ground Cayenne Pepper)
- Martini Glass
- Cocktail Shaker
Directions:
On a shallow plate, make your chili lime seasoning for the rim of your martini glass. Mix up a tablespoon or so of the kosher salt, about an equal amount of chili powder, then a teaspoon approximately of cayenne pepper, then a couple of pinches of sugar to balance it all out. Grab a fork and blend it all up together on the plate. Now take a slice of lime and rub it all over the rim of the martini glass and immediately dip it in the chili seasoning. Now set that glass aside. In your cocktail shaker, fill it 3/4 of the way up with ice. Fill it with the tequila, lime juice, agave nectar, Cholula, and the cucumber wedges. Cover and vigorously shake for 1 minute until the cucumber wedges begin to muddle. Perfect. Now strain it into your martini glass. If some of the cucumber seeds get into your drink, no worries! It's more fun that way! Now garnish as you like. See above for how I did it. You could even add a few jalapenos if you're feeling extra adventurous. Cheers!!
