Hey Mommas!!! Happy Friday!! Woohoo!! Hope all of you had a wonderful week!!
It was one heck of a week for me. It started out absolutely positively awful. Monday morning, I take my kids to school and head straight to the Y for a workout. I get back about an hour and half later or so. I get back home only to find that our crazy 11 year old dog, Jade, has dug under the fence and taken off. I go all over the neighborhood immediately and call for her. No sign of her whatsoever. I continue doing this all day on Monday growing more and more desperate by the hour. I have called the animal shelter every single hour all day and they had no word of a lost small white Lab. Now we live along a greenbelt that connects to some pretty dense woods along a creek. So I figured surely she was back somewhere in those woods where she couldn't hear me and she had just been distracted by the wildlife and eventually got lost. I decided I needed to recruit Mr. Mojito to go out deep in the woods to hunt for her. He comes home from work and goes searching for her out there for hours only to come back at dark with no Jade. At this point, I am completely sad and worried sick. The dread that she may not be alive is beginning to set in and is making me seriously depressed. I mean she was my baby before I had babies. This dog, who yes many people will say is quite hyper and obnoxious, is still my dog and I love her dearly. I know she won't outlive me but surely this wouldn't be the way she would go. My kids by this point are extremely upset and worried that Jade is out somewhere lost and hungry or worse--badly hurt. It was hard to get to sleep that night.
Tuesday morning rolls around, and I drop the kids off at school and head straight to the animal shelter. At this point I have decided that surely they found her after hours the night before and I needed to go have a look for myself. After going through 200 dogs later, still no Jade. At this time, I am beginning to prepare myself for the worst. I still decide I need to make some flyers and posts online and see if this maybe might turn up some information. I make flyers and hang them all over the local area. Then I post online through a company called PawBoost who shares it to Facebook. A few hours later and I see that all of these extremely nice and caring people have shared my post and all seem genuinely concerned that we had lost our sweet dog. It was so heart-warming in a time of stress and sadness to see the neighborly care of other people. By 5:00 that day, a very nice lady commented on the post that she had seen a picture of a dog that looked similar to my picture of Jade on her NextDoor Neighborhood App. She shared the picture with me and I immediately recognized the dog as JADE!!!! The lady very kindly gave me the name and phone number of the woman who had posted the picture. I call to find out that a woman who lives about 6 miles away from us had been driving in the area and saw Jade nearly get run over and so she picked her up and brought her to her own home.
Of course, I was absolutely thrilled and relieved to hear Jade was alive and safe. What happened next is something that I did not expect. In multiple phone conversations with this woman, I come to find out that she has not only been feeding Jade and letting her stay inside of her home and sleep in bed with her. BUT this woman has also purchased her a new collar and toys as well as taken her to the vet and had a microchip placed in Jade with HER information on it. I'm going to pause for a minute and let that sink in..........WHAT?!? Now I can't complain too much obviously because this woman did probably save my dog's life but REALLY??? A vet visit and a microchip after ONE day and somehow it didn't occur to her that just maybe she should call the animal shelter and see if somebody has been looking for this dog non-stop and worried sick about her?!?!? Phew. Okay long story short---Jade is home. At her REAL home. With the momma who has taken care of her for 11 years for goodness sake!!
On another note, after I finally got that all taken care of, I also managed to get a little work done and get all of the NEW SPRING ARRIVALS posted online. I am so excited about these new pieces. There are so many gorgeous tops for Spring, adorable dresses, and some really pretty necklaces to go with it all. This Spring collection is really wonderful and I hope you all love it just as much I do! So to toast these new spring arrivals and of course my fur-baby being back home, I made a delicious and strong cocktail that you all know from Sex and the City (or at least that's where I know it from!!)---the Cosmopolitan. So good. And yes I, like every other woman in America, LOVE Sex and the City!! If you're wondering which character I identify the most with---it's Carrie of course!! Carrie Bradshaw is my spirit animal!! (btw is that how the saying goes??) Okay, enough of my weirdness. Here's my take on the fabulous Cosmopolitan cocktail. Hope you all love it and I will see you all next week!! Cheers Mommas!!
