It's Friday Cocktail Time!! Tequila Sunrise Edition!!

Hey Mommas!! Happy Friday and happy 3-day weekend!! Woohoo!!! Hope you all have had a fabulous week and a romantic Valentine's Day! It's been a great week for me, busy as always, but really great.  I love the new rhythm I'm getting into these days.  Slowly but surely, a routine seems to be emerging.  I start everyday with coffee (of course--duh!), getting the kids ready for school, making breakfast, lunches, etc.  I get into my workout gear and grab breakfast on the run.  I head out the door and drop the kids off at school.  Then, I head over to my new YMCA and either go to Zumba class or go to the upstairs area and workout.  I'll admit---I'm no huge exercise fan....but I love to cook/eat and those 2 don't really go hand-in-hand.  Ugh.  Reality can really suck sometimes, am I right??? I have to force myself to workout but I usually feel so much better for doing it.  Now that I'm getting consistent workouts, I love the way I'm feeling.  I'm no health nut by any means, but I do realize the health benefits of exercise and feel like I owe it to my kiddos to take care of myself.  I have so much more energy and so much less general aches and pains that comes with getting old I guess.  I really love the Zumba classes because they don't seem so dreadful as a regular workout... although I know for a fact that the majority of the time I look like an idiot doing the dances.  But who cares, right??  It's fun.  What do you girls like to do for workouts?  I love hearing new ideas.  I'm really interested in Barre...anybody tried that before and have any advice for me??  Let me know in the comments!!  I may go make an idiot of myself in there too before long!! Ha!!

On another note, I'm loving the response I've been seeing to the new spring collection.  I'm so glad you all are loving these pieces as much as I do.  We added a couple new tops this week, and they are made of the most heavenly bamboo knit fabric.  They are really incredible.  Definitely a go-to wardrobe staple this spring.  I'm also busy working on some ah-dorable new graphic tee designs for spring and they are cute to boot.  This long weekend, I felt like we all needed some brunch cocktail ideas.  Now I love a good mimosa, don't get me wrong.  But sometimes, you just want a little something different for your brunch routine.  Enter the tequila sunrise.  So easy to make.  Just 3 ingredients and so yummy.  You can drink it any time of day but it's really delicious with brunch.  So here it is.  Enjoy your long weekend girls!!

xx, Momma Mojito

MOMMA MOJITO'S TEQUILA SUNRISE

Ingredients:

  • 1.75 oz. Tequila Reposado (we like Tres Generaciones)
  • 6 oz. Orange Juice
  • .75 oz. Grenadine Syrup
  • Orange Slice and Maraschino Cherry with the stem to garnish

Directions:

In a highball glass or tall glass of your choice, fill with ice.  Pour in the tequila and orange juice. Next, very slowly and carefully pour in the grenadine syrup along the inside edges of the glass. You want the syrup to sink to the bottom of the glass.  RESIST THE URGE TO STIR.  DON'T DO IT. The whole point of the tequila sunrise is the natural separations of the colors....just like a sunrise. Now place a straw inside without stirring, along with the orange slice and cherry.  Perfect.  Drink up buttercup and have a slow, decadent morning.
