Hey Mommas!! It's almost Valentine's Day and I don't know about you mommas, but Valentine's is not the romantic and glamorous event it used to be for me in my dating days with my hubby. I have a whole slew of over-the-top romantic dates he took me on for Valentine's Day, but I won't weird you all out with the details. Nowadays with two kids and since good babysitters are few and far between, Valentine's Day means attending Valentine's parties at school followed by eating out for dinner with two rugrats in tow. Exciting, I know. Reality can be so unromantic sometimes. Sigh. However, my husband always sends me a beautiful bouquet of roses every Valentine's. Cliché you say? Maybe, but I love it. This girl loves flowers and red roses on Valentine's are no exception. Mr. Mojito knows I'm a complete sucker for flowers too. He can be majorly in the doghouse and he'll send me flowers and then I completely forget what I was mad about. I'm going to hope he's not reading this so he doesn't know that little tidbit!! ;)
So what are you girls going to do for your Valentine's date?? Going to see Fifty Shades maybe?? Well this momma went to see it today while the kids were at school! Whaaaat??? Yep. I'm that mom. Drop the kids off at school and then go to the movies. Mom of the year right here. Haha. I would feel guilty except it was SO good. Seriously. I know the movie critics like absolutely hate it, but haters gonna hate right? If you loved the books, you're going to love this second movie. Despite Jamie Dornan not being what I had in my head for Christian Grey, I got over that after the first movie. He's better in this second installment for sure. It's pretty close to the book and as far as the ummmm...steamy scenes go, it was....well....worth the price of admission. ;) Go grab your girlfriends or you know by yourself while the kids are at school (lol) and go see it asap!!
Okay, now back to Mr. Mojito. Mr. Mojito is quite a good bartender himself. I like to think it's because he has a good teacher (aka me!). So he makes a fabulous Whiskey Sour. Seriously, it's so good. Not too sweet, but it's citrusy and has a good substance to it thanks to the egg white. I'm not a big whiskey drinker, but I do enjoy his whiskey sour. So if you're looking for a drink you can make for your man this weekend, here it is girls...courtesy of Mr. Mojito himself. Happy Valentine's!!!
xx, Momma Mojito
MR. MOJITO'S WHISKEY SOUR
Ingredients:
- 2 oz. of Crown Royal Whiskey
- Teaspoon of Sugar
- Juice of Half a Lemon
- One Egg White
- Slice of Lemon and a Cherry to garnish
Directions:
In a lowball glass, set a single extra-large ice cube inside. (You can find these ice trays at stores like Wal-Mart, Target, etc.) Set aside. In a cocktail shaker, fill with ice. Add the whiskey, sugar, lemon juice and egg white. Cover and shake vigorously for at least 30 seconds to make sure you have evenly distributed the egg white.
