holiday drink

It's Friday Cocktail Time!! Christmas Sangria Edition!

Happy Friday mommas!! I missed you girls last week! I was mega sick with the nasty flu/strep throat stuff that's going around last Friday, and believe it or not alcohol was the last thing on my mind! ;)  Who knows what it is but it sure is MISERABLE.  Yuck.  Anyhow, I'm finally better now (for the most part!) and ready for Friday Cocktail Time! YAY!

It's such a busy time of year, and I'm sure all you mommas are feeling that holiday rush right about now just like I am.  Well I'm here to check one thing off your list....your signature holiday drink.  Super easy to mix up a whole pitcher of it for a crowd.  Plus, it's crisp and tart, colorful and delicious.  Plus, it's light enough on the alcohol to where you won't be toasted for your evening with friends and family.  Hope you enjoy it mommas.

Side note: this is my last Friday Cocktail Time before Christmas! Don't forget to get your last-minute Christmas orders in before Wednesday (Dec 20th) in order to get them in time for Christmas. Deadline is Wednesday at 3:00 pm for delivery by Saturday (Dec 23rd).  Plus, as an extra special surprise, all orders over $25 will get a FREE Christmas surprise in their order! No code necessary!! Offer lasts from now through Christmas!

Now let's get to that recipe! ;) Cheers mommas and happy holidays from me to you!!

MOMMA MOJITO'S CHRISTMAS SANGRIA

(Makes enough for a pitcher!)

Ingredients:

  • 1 bottle of Chardonnay or whatever white wine you prefer!
  • 16 oz. White Grape Juice
  • 8 oz. Pomegranate Juice
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1 bottle of Prosecco, Champagne, or Brut Sparkling Wine
  • Diced Granny Smith Apples
  • Fresh Cranberries
  • Pomegranate Seeds
  • Fresh Sage Leaves
  • Slices of Granny Smith Apples for Garnish

Directions:

In a large pitcher, pour the sugar in the bottom.  Next, pour in the Chardonnay, White Grape Juice, Pomegranate Juice, Diced Apples, Cranberries, Pomegranate Seeds, and Sage Leaves (sparingly--just a small handful).  Stir it all together until the sugar has dissolved.  Refrigerate for about 2 hours or overnight if you prefer.  To serve, place ice cubes halfway in glasses and pour the chilled sangria over the top to about 2/3 of the cup.  Then fill each glass with the Prosecco or Champagne (whichever you're using!) and then spoon some of the fruit into the glasses too.  Give each glass a slight stir and garnish with more sage leaves and a slice of apple.  Cheers and Happy Holidays!

real life here -- wrapping presents with a cocktail?? Ummm YES.
