Hey mommas! Happy Friday!! Hope you all had a fabulous week! It's sure been a busy week around my house! Mr. Mojito is hard at work this week building a rock patio in our backyard, and I am pretty darn excited about it! I can't wait to sit out there when the weather gets nice and relax in a lawn chair with an ice cold cocktail in hand.  Eek! I'm getting excited just thinking about it!

If you didn't already know it, next week on Thursday, February 22nd is National Margarita Day which is my 2nd favorite drink holiday behind National Mojito Day of course!! Over the year and a half I have been writing this cocktail blog, I've given you quite a few margarita recipes...BUT I haven't given you my frozen margarita recipe yet! Well, in honor of National Margarita Day, I now present to you my delicious, quick, and oh so easy Frozen Margarita!! Enjoy mommas and I will see you next week! ;)

MOMMA MOJITO'S FROZEN MARGARITA (a pitcher's worth)

Ingredients:

  • 1 6 oz. can of Minute Maid Frozen Limeade  (sometimes the 6oz. size is hard to find--you can make it with the 12oz. size and just double the rest of the ingredients and this will make 2 pitchers worth--otherwise just pour half of the 12oz. can out and save for another use.)
  • 6 oz. Agave Silver Tequila (just use the limeade can for measuring!
  • 3 oz. Triple Sec or your favorite Orange Liqueur
  • 1 tbsp. of Agave Syrup (more if you like it super sweet or omit if you don't want any sweetness)
  • Fresh Lime Juice to Taste (I think the juice of one lime is enough but you be the judge)
  • Ice (about 4-5 cups is good)
  • Kosher Salt for the Rim
  • Lime Wedge or Slice for Garnish

Directions:

Pour out some of the kosher salt in a saucer or on a plate.  Run a sliced lime over the rim of your margarita glasses and then dip the glasses into the salt all along the rim until coated.  Set aside.  In a blender, pour in the limeade, tequila, triple sec, and agave syrup.  Next, add the ice.  Blend until smooth.  You may need to stop the blender a couple times for stirring.  Add enough ice until frozen and smooth, not watery.  Pour into the glasses and garnish with a slice of lime.  Enjoy!

Mr. Mojito really needed this margarita after a long day of working on my new patio!! :)

It's Friday Cocktail Time! Orange Cranberry Margarita Edition!

You can find this adorable Cactus Cocktail Shaker here.

Hey mommas!! Happy Friday to ya!

Hope all you mommas are staying warm and healthy this winter!  Is it just me or is this one of the worst cold and flu seasons EVER?? Ugh!!! We've had our run of everything this season---strep throat, flu, cold, sinus infection, stomach bug...you name it and we've had it.  I can't wait for the sick season to be over.  If I'm not wiping my own nose, I'm wiping one kiddo's or both.  So I sure hope you mommas aren't having it as rough as we are with illnesses.

I can't wait for warmer weather when I can sit out in the sunshine in a sundress and flip-flops with a margarita in hand.  Ahhhh, that sounds so nice.  Extra lime please.  Yum.  In all of our illness-ridden house right now, that sounds pretty nice.  While I'll have to keep daydreaming about sitting out in the sunshine in my sundress and flip-flops, I don't have to daydream about that margarita!! That's because this week I made a delicious margarita that's perfect for the season.  It uses orange and cranberry flavors that are just right this time of year! Plus, it makes me feel like maybe summer isn't too far away after all and that's something to celebrate! Maybe add a little cocktail umbrella if you're feelin' the winter blues.  Cheers mommas and see you next week!

MOMMA MOJITO'S SIGNATURE MARGARITA

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz. High Quality Silver Tequila (Patron, 1800, etc--I used 1800 in mine!)
  • 1 oz. High Quality Orange Liqueur (Cointreau, Grand Marnier, or Gran Gala)
  • Fresh Juice of Half a Lime (not the mini Key West limes but NORMAL sized limes!!)
  • Agave Nectar (1/4 oz nectar mixed with 1/4 oz water)--you don't want it too sweet!
  • Kosher Salt, Margarita Salt, Sugar (whichever you prefer) for the Rim
  • Lime Wedge for Garnish

Directions:

Take a lime wedge, and run it over the rim of your glass.  (You can use whatever glass you prefer--martini, margarita, rocks glass, etc.)  Now dip the rim of the glass in the salt and shake off the excess.  Set aside.  Now, fill your cocktail shaker with ice.  Add tequila, orange liqueur, agave nectar mixture, and lime juice to the cocktail shaker.  Shake until thoroughly chilled...approximately 10-20 seconds.  Strain into your glass.  You can serve over ice if you prefer but it's cold and delicious just how it is.  Garnish with the lime wedge.  Cheers mommas!!
